Standard 1: Enacting children and young people's rights

We will:

  • treat children and young people with respect
  • talk to children and young people about their rights in a way they can understand
  • help them to see their strengths, accept them for who they are, and be kind
  • work to understand what is happening in their life and why they respond the way they do
  • be honest with children and young people about what we do
  • involve them in decisions about their life and let them know why decisions were made
  • let children and young people know what and how information about them is shared with others and why
  • speak up for children and young people when they need us to
  • learn from them about their life, relationships, culture, goals and how they want to work with us
  • ask children and young people for feedback about how we work with them, listen, and be the best we can for them
