Surrogacy Act 2010 and Status of Children Act 1996

What’s this about?

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice seeks feedback on the Surrogacy Act 2010 and the Status of Children Act 1996.

This review seeks a broad range of community views to assist the NSW Government to consider whether legislative amendments are required to sufficiently protect the rights of children and meet the needs of various family structures. This includes:

  • LGBTIQA+ families
  • Families who conceive using fertilisation procedures
  • Families created through surrogacy arrangements.
