The NSW Spectacles Program helps the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in the community by providing glasses and other vision aids through a network of approved participating optometrists and optical dispensers.
The program allows eligible people to live fuller lives and avoid preventable deterioration in eye and general health.
To make sure those with the greatest needs have access to vision aids through the program, a number of targeted eligibility criteria are applied. Eligible recipients include seniors, children, people experiencing homelessness, those living in rural and remote areas, people with disability and Aboriginal and multicultural communities.
The NSW Spectacles Program Guidelines (PDF, 648.7 KB) outline the objectives of the program, the services and eligibility criteria.
Vision Australia is the current service provider for this program. The NSW Spectacles Program page on Vision Australia's website outlines how to apply for the program and also how to become a provider or make an inquiry as a health professional or provider.
You can also call Vision Australia on 1300 84 74 66 and ask for “spectacles” when you hear the voice prompt or email info@visionaustralia.org
