Commissioner Tonkin launched Working together to address domestic, family and sexual violence: NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner Strategic Plan 2024–2027 on 14 March 2024.
The Strategic Plan 2024 – 2027 sets out six overarching priority areas to inform and underpin all aspects of the Office of the Women’s Safety’s Commissioner’s work. They are focused on improving ways of working across the whole system, strengthening accountability and driving broader societal change to address domestic, family and sexual violence.
Amplify the diverse voices of people with lived experience of domestic, family and sexual violence and ensure that their expertise informs policies, programs and public discourse.
Oversee and monitor the implementation of the NSW Plans and strengthen government accountability for their delivery.
Advocate for safe, accessible and integrated responses to domestic, family and sexual violence that meet individual needs, ensure accountability and do not perpetuate trauma.
Advocate for a greater focus on, and investment in, primary prevention to address the underlying drivers of violence against women.
Build the capacity of specialist and general workforces as well as informal support networks to identify, prevent and respond to domestic, family and sexual violence.
Promote initiatives that improve women’s economic safety in relationships and recognise the centrality of economic security in escaping and recovering from domestic, family and sexual violence.
