Two highly experienced barristers have been appointed as judges of the District Court of NSW, bringing with them decades of public service and legal experience.
Mr Robert Hollo SC will commence on 7 October 2025 while Mr Peter Krisenthal will commence on 13 October 2025.
Mr Hollo became a barrister in 1995 and was appointed Senior Counsel in 2011.
He has wide experience in commercial, banking, consumer and insurance law, with recognised expertise in complex regulatory and corporate disputes.
He chaired the Bar’s Education Committee and sits on the Legal Services Council’s Admissions Committee.
Mr Krisenthal worked as a psychiatric nurse and probation and parole officer before gaining his legal qualifications in 1997.
He spent many years with Legal Aid before becoming a barrister in 2009.
Since 2014 he has been a Public Defender in Newcastle, conducting complex criminal jury trials and appeals, and is recognised for his commitment to access to justice.

“Mr Hollo and Mr Krisenthal have made an outstanding contribution to the law and to the administration of justice in New South Wales.
“Their appointments will strengthen the Court’s capacity to deliver timely and fair justice to the people of this state.
“They are highly respected for their skill, integrity and service. I congratulate them on their appointments and wish them well in this next chapter of their careers.”
