Preliminary concepts for the future of  Tomaree Lodge

On 27 August 2025, the NSW Government unveiled preliminary concept designs for Tomaree Lodge, based on the in depth research and analysis undertaken by expert Hunter-based urban design firm, SHAC, who were commissioned to produce a concept masterplan to guide thinking about the future of Tomaree Lodge. 

Tomaree Lodge preliminary concept document (PDF, 49.2 MB) can be found here, with printed copies available from the Tomaree Lodge Information Centre. Please note, due to the file size downloading may take a few minutes. A snapshot summary is also available which includes key themes as well as a simplified map view.

Members of the community are invited to provide further feedback on the concepts to help shape the final concept masterplan for Tomaree Lodge.

Update: Improvements and upgrades at Tomaree Lodge (August 2025)

In parallel with the site analysis and preliminary concept development work undertaken by SHAC, the Department of Communities and Justice has progressed a range of essential maintenance and upgrade works at Tomaree Lodge.
