Dear Seniors,
I am writing to acknowledge how the recent incident in Bondi Junction has impacted the community.
It’s likely that this event will prompt many emotions for older people and their families.
Immediately following the attack, the NSW Government opened its support programs including:
In addition, general supports for the community are also available:
I encourage you to take advantage of the resources above at this challenging time.
Bondi Junction has been showered in outpourings of love from people across the state.
Even in the worst of times, we still see the best of NSW.
This Sunday, the Premier will be leading a candlelight vigil to honour the victims of the Bondi Junction tragedy.
The vigil will be held at Dolphin Court, Bondi Beach – south of the Bondi Pavilion at 5:30pm.
It will also be live streamed online at www.nsw.gov.au/emergency/bondi-junction-support-information for those unable to attend in person.
I acknowledge that it is important for seniors in our community to come together and talk about their experiences and reactions.
However, people should not rely on rumours or misinformation on social media. The Police and NSW Government are the main source of information on recent events and will provide accurate information to the public based on Police investigations.
I am committed to supporting older people in our community to continue to feel connected and supported at this time.
Now is the time to show that we are strong and united as a community.
